We are still recovering from the flood and I still can't ride. They did have "open riding" tonight at the fairgrounds where our refugees currently reside but I did not think that "open riding" was a good place for Sly's third ride, LOL.
So we'll pick back up when we have a story to tell!
P.S. I can't watch things like "open riding." OMG. Lady on the little sorrel with her ears pinned, she's pissy because she is LAME, stop snapping her in the face...she is crossfiring because she is LAME LAME LAME. Arrrrgggghhhh...

No kidding! and why are you letting a 12yo put on the second ride at ride night, on your grade underfed 2yo bareback in a tomthumb? Riding tonight really made me feel better about my equitation...Tonight was the first time I rode Sarah, and she was a superstar! Even when the wind picked up and we were surrounded by buckings, spooking, and bolting horses she stayed focused on me. And she was NICE to ride...hmm if she doesnt get adopted quick I might have to keep her!
I always looked at open ride night as an "obstacle" course. If I could survive that, I could survive anything!
Sarah is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. OMG. I wouldn't let her go...I mean, she could go right back in the show ring. That is still SUCH a weird story of how she almost fell through the cracks.
Oh yeah I was already looking at a few dressage shows :) It has been too long since I have shown. I will probably make a fool of myself, but I really miss it! After I get to know her and trust her a little better I will have to plug her into my lesson program.
I rode in a Buck Brannaman clinic a number of years ago. Great clinic, Buck is an amazing teacher. But w/ 25 participants in a big arena, it got dicey when one bitchy mare whirled around on my horse, backed onto him into the corner right as we were passing by her, and proceeded to try to kick the shit out of him. It happened so fast that there wasn't anywhere for me to take my horse, and the mare's rider just sat there like "duhhh, what now?" I was finally able to get away from the corner, and fortunately neither me nor my horse got kicked. But it was a scary moment, and one that keeps me from riding in a similar setting. Buck got all over the mare's rider, tho, told her if she couldn't control her horse, then she could leave.
